This is rare Custer range Springfield Model 1873 carbine. Caliber is 45-70 U.S. Cavalry Trapdoor Carbine. The only thing not original is the replaced blade on the front sight. Overall condition is much better than most of these you will see. Wood to metal fit is excellent. Wood is in very good condition. There is a repair to the wrist. It is hard to see and does not affect the integrity of the stock. Two cartouches are visible on the stock. One on the side and the other just to the rear of the trigger guard. Some of the original finish remains. Markings on the metal are correct and original. Action is smooth and tight. It works perfectly. The tumbler is a two click. Bore in the 22" barrel is shiny. The lands and grooves show wear, but it will still rate six on a one to ten scale. For those of you who want the best collectibles available, here you go. This Custer range 1873 Trapdoor Carbine will make a special addition to your collection. I have taken many pictures which clearly and accurately show the condition.
