W.L. EVANS 1826 U.S. NAVY FLINTLOCK PISTOL
Item ID #1773
This is a nice and very rare U.S. Navy Flintlock Model of 1826 pistol. It was made by W.L. Evans; Valley Forge, Pa. Year of manufacture is 1831. Overall length is about 14". The barrel is 8 5/8". Bore looks good with no issues. Action is very smooth and tight. It works perfectly. Wood is nice. The only place I noticed where there was damage was at the barrel where it meats the stock. Not an issue with the pistol. The lock is clearly marked. It is dated 1831/W.L. Evans/V. Forge. The barrel has inspector markings C.I./USN/P. You will also find inspector markings on the stock, as shown. Ramrod is also inspected. JM, as well as the swivel. The CI is for Thomas Jones. And the JM is for Justin Murphy. Notice the sash on the left side of the stock. This is a nice pistol and one that is rarely seen. It is estimated fewer than 1000 produced. For those of you interested in US flintlock pistols, it will make a fine addition to your collection.
