This early Colt Lightning Rifle has the early style safety on the trigger guard. It was made in 1885, second year. Bore in the 26" barrel is shiny, with strong lands and grooves, along with some pitting. It will rate a six on a one to ten scale. Action is smooth and tight. Works perfectly. Forearm is in good condition with some damage on the bottom of one of the halves. Checkering is still there. Barrel address is complete as is the 38 caliber marking. You can still see the Rampant Colt on the receiver. Wood to metal fit is excellent. Don't know what the initials on the butt stock are for. They are on both sides. You don't see these early style Colt Lightning Rifles very often. It will make a nice addition to your collection.
