PETTENGILL 44 CAL MARTIALLY MARKED CARTOUCHED
Item ID #1508
C.S. Pettengill was manufactured by Rogers, Spencer & Co in the early 1860's. Total made was about 3400. It is a six shot .44 caliber double action revolver. Units issue the Pettengill included Michigan Cavalry, 3rd & 5th Missouri, 1st Arkansas, 3rd Illinois, and 3rd Kentucky. Bore in the 7 1/2" barrel is bright and shiny. Lands and grooves are strong. It will rate a seven on a one to ten scale. The only markings on the pistol are the inspector initials. There is a cartouche on the right side grip. Action is smooth and tight. It works perfectly. I have taken a lot of pictures which clearly and fairly show the condition of this pistol.
